Story Telling or Castro Cougar Courier

  • Tell a story using Domo Animate.
  • It can be a story about yourself, your friends or a fictional story.
  • Think about everything you do in writing class: characters, plot, setting, rising action, falling action, etc.
  • There should be a conflict and a solution.
  • Your story should have a beginning, middle and end.
  • You can save your stories now, using the same login as the Castro Cougar Courier.

Holiday Message

Objective: Inform an audience about a holiday or create a message for an audience about a holiday using iMovie.
  • You may use pictures from the internet (remember to list your sources at the end).
  • You may interview each other.
  • You may choose any holiday. It could be Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or even an non-winter holiday.
  • Your iMovie must give a definition of the holiday.
  • Your iMovie must explain what the holiday means to you.
  • Your iMovie must include text, transitions, pictures and video.

C-SPAN's Student Cam 2011

Objective: To discuss an issue, event or topic that helps you better understand the role of the federal government in your life or community by creating a potential award-winning video.

Purpose: To enhance our knowledge of PSAs and iMovie by looking at student-created award-winning videos. To possibly submit our own videos and win.

1. Click on Past Winners to see examples of what we're working on.

2. Click on "Downloadable C-SPAN Footage" and scroll down to read the list of topics. Choose a topic.

3. Click on FAQ's and read what you video needs to have in order to be submitted.

4. Plan out your project in WORD. What will you need? As you begin your resource, remember to list your sources.

Advertising

OBJECTIVE: To inform students about a specific topic by using interesting and informative design elements.

Use the program PAGES to design an advertisement/something you'd like to inform students about.

Pick a page layout in PAGES (Poster Small or Blank).

Some ideas:
  • You've seen the motivational posters in the hallway. Make your own with pictures from Castro.
  • Announcements for the dance
  • Announcements for basketball or football games
  • PSA type announcements
Remember:
  • Make sure your information is FACTUAL
  • You ask permission before you use someone's photo
  • Check your grammar and spelling

Reading the News

OBJECTIVE: We will read and analyze an article by answering questions in order to better understand what goes into a journalistic article. We will be analyzing professional articles in order to develop our own writing for the Castro Cougar Courier.
